Being Depressed

Tue Nov 3, 2009, 7:53 AM
Winter Blues Already

Another day in the life of your humble narrator. At least it's not raining today but the sky is filled with whispy, grey clouds that are just waiting to burst and cover us with a layer of snow. The beautiful fall was cut short by a storm that blew through and took any semblance of fall foliage off the trees, leaving us with those familiar brown leaves, if any at all. There is some green left on the trees but those trees will stay green year round or the leaves will simply fall off leaving us with barren, grey branches where there once was some sign of life.

If your modest verbalizer sounds as though he's depressed and sullen, well my friends, it's true. Even I can be thrown off my high horse of encouraging words and cheerful disposition. While it does take quite some work to pull me into these depths of emotional disorder, I feel the overwhelming pressure of nature herself as she berates me into her gloomy, cold, dark winter interval where the days are short and darkness falls before I've even had my supper.

If not for my aspirations of being a adequate lensman, I think I would find a cave to hibernate in until the hardy spring crocus blooms to greet the succeeding spring. Further reflection reminds me that my picturing has, in fact, carried me through many diffucult times and brought me much felicity in the face of adversity. It has also served me well by bringing joy in the form of the many friends and acquaintances I have acquired through my persistent capturing of my surroundings. Last but not least, all of you who are reading this now.

Perhaps some unintentional windfall of good spirits may overcome me in the coming months but for now, I can not see the forest through the trees. All I can do is keep stepping lightly over the rocks, putting one foot in front of the other and taking each day as it ensues. Only hoping for a glimmer of a chance to be reasonably happy and seizing that moment with all fervor.

Thank you my friends and readers for allowing me to share my thoughts with you again.
